Governance & Legal Notes

Peer Volunteer operates under a transparent governance structure designed to ensure accountability and public trust:

  • Registered under the Companies Act 2017 (XIX of 2017) as a Non-Profit Limited by Guarantee (Section 42)
  • Supervised by the District Social Welfare Office, Jhelum Valley
  • Board of Directors: minimum 3, maximum 7 members
  • Current election tenure: 2026–2027 (Annual election held 16 February 2026)
  • Accounts audited annually by an independent Chartered Accountant
  • Financial year: 1 July – 30 June
  • Non-distribution guarantee: no income is distributed to any member or director
  • Amendments to Articles of Association require a special resolution and SECP approval
  • In case of dissolution, remaining assets are transferred to another non-profit with similar objectives
